Counselor-led group sessions to help patients recover from alcohol and/or other drug problems.
Outpatient group therapy for adults or adolescents 12 years or older (ASAM Level I) is offered on a non-residential, scheduled basis for adults with alcohol and other drug abuse problems. The program provides professionally directed evaluation, group therapy, process groups, education, skill building, case management, and individual counseling.
To be admitted to the program, an individual must have substance-related problems, including emotional/behavioral conditions and complications, and demonstrate that he or she is seeking treatment in a supportive recovery environment to avoid relapse or continued use.
The client attends regularly scheduled individual counseling and/or group therapy sessions in a professional environment that meets state accreditation criteria. Services are provided by licensed or certified alcohol and drug abuse counselors, and support service staff.
The client and his or her counselor create an individual treatment plan. The client then participates in counselor-directed group sessions to resolve the client’s alcohol and drug abuse issues and related problems. Whenever feasible, the client’s affected family members and/or significant others are involved in the client’s recovery program.
The treatment program emphasizes socially acceptable values, such as self-reliance, responsibility, competency, individual achievement, individual/community protection, and the importance of the family. Topics addressed include criminal thinking and behavior, post-acute withdrawal syndrome, relapse prevention, breaking through denial, medical aspects of addiction, letting go of high-risk behavior, family function and dysfunction, cognitive restructuring, HIV/STD education, parenting, and codependency. The program includes life-skills training, experiential learning, goal setting, personal empowerment, respect for self and others, and positive self-concept and self-talk.
Vitality Center may have to place a client on a waiting list if our unit is full. Clients that are uncooperative or violent can be denied admittance. Clients with medical and/or mental conditions which require a higher level of care than we provide will be referred to another facility.
Those in recovery are welcome to attend any of the following group meetings:
